I think Creed Viking is the perfect summer scent because…

Creed Viking is described by the brand as “fiery” and a woody, citrus fragrance. It was their interpretation of the Viking spirit, going so far as to incorporate a Viking ship into their bottle design. I mean, who doesn’t want to embody the Viking spirit of exploration and the strength of a Norse god?

Creed Viking

$495 for 100mL

Top notes: Bergamot, lemon, orange, peppermint, pink peppercorn, and absinthe

Middle notes: Allspice, clove, jasmine, fresh florals, lavender, orris butter, rose

Base notes: Cedarwood, tonka bean, vetiver, white musk

I really wanted to like this, really I did. But alas, I did not. The first day I ever tried it, I smelled of a very expensive bug spray. A natural bug spray that uses essential oils, perfect for summer. I asked for a second opinion; he thought the same. The next time I tried it, I felt better about it. Instead of summers fighting off mosquitos, it made me think of all the scents my dad used to overspray. So while I still didn’t love it, it at least had nostalgia going for it. Today, I am back at camp with bug spray.  At least the longevity was great, and it was jumping off my skin.

Would I recommend this?

To be honest, I am not the biggest fan of bergamot, and I’m pretty sure that it is that and the pink peppercorn that don’t vibe with me. But if you love those notes in a masculine fragrance, try it.  I will say that it certainly smells masculine and perfect for summer. Definitely don’t take my opinion to be law. You will likely have a different experience with the scent.
