Bubble Bath by Maison Margiela, the ultimate clean scent

Bubble bath: lazy afternoons, self-care Saturdays, and a life of leisure. It is also a clean fresh scent from Maison Margiela. The brand is all about trying to recreate experience through the power of scent. They even had the perfumer develop a soap bubble accord, a specific note created to really give the fragrance that, “I just ran a luxurious bubble bath,” essence.

Replica Bubble Bath Eau de Toilette

$160 for 100 mL

Top notes: Soap bubble accord, pink pepper essence, bergamot essence

Mid notes: Lavender, rose superessence, jasmine absolute

Base notes: Patchouli, coconut milk, white musk

Fragrance family: Chypre floral

This is a fragrance that I believe that I will have to continue to play with. I find it interesting that I have had a range of experiences wearing. It seems that I pull out different notes based on how I am that day. The very first time I wore it, I noticed coconut and fell in love and proceeded to cover myself in it. Wearing it all day the other day, I just smelled clean and soapy, but there was something about that scent that made me want to sneeze. Mind you, it is still allergy season for me, so that might have something to do with my new sensitivity.

While doing more serious testing the other day, I sprayed it on at 7 AM and it was still quite fragrant at 1 PM, to the point I was concerned my coworker would sneeze if I got too close. And it remained strong throughout the day, only fading late in the evening to a prominent skin scent. But in previous times wearing it, it seemed to disappear, with maybe an hour of longevity.

I am a big proponent of trying on fragrances on your skin and not just taking someone else’s word. But I am not sure if I can even take my own word. I wish I could pinpoint the reasons why the scent reacted with my skin differently, mostly so I can smell coconut-y again.

If you like clean, soapy scents, this is one to try.
