Barbara Sturm Anti-Pollution drops: Worth it or not?

As I prepared for my trip to Nigeria, I took what I knew about Lagos and extended that to the rest of the country of Nigeria. I expected smog, and a lot of it. What a great time to try a skincare. product that claims to be anti-pollution. I had my eye on the Barbara Sturm Anti-Pollution drops for quite some time. This was just the excuse I needed to finally try it for myself.

Anti-pollution drops

$60 for 10mL

The claims

  • Strengthen skin barrier
  • Defend skin against urban pollution and the elements
  • Combat signs of digital aging

Key ingredients

  • Skin Protect Complex made with Marine Microorganisms strengthens the skin’s barrier
  • Cocoa Seed Extract helps the skin to combat signs of digital aging by shield it from High Energy Visible (HEV) rays which can dehydrate and irritate the skin over time
  • Hyaluronic Acid, Exopolysaccharide (Alteromonas Ferment Extract)
  • Purslane Extract
  • Betaine

How did I use it?

I thought of the product as a barrier to the world, so I used it as the last step in my skincare routine. I chose to apply it nightly over top of my moisturizer (Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream). I wasn’t sure it I should also put it over my sunscreen, so I did put it over top some days, but not others. The brand says that you can mixed it with your moisturizer if you prefer. I imagine that means you can put it before your moisturizer and let them mix together.

What were my results?

I mean, because I am not a scientist, I can’t speak to whether or not it really is protected me from air pollution and digital pollution. I can tell you how it felt on my skin. What I noticed is that my skin is so much better hydrated than when I use the Tatcha alone. When I applied it directly to my skin, I didn’t experience any irritation when I applied directly to my skin. It was moisturizing enough on its own, and I have dry skin. My skin liked it. As I continued to use it when it got back to the states and back to my regular cleansing routine and climate, this is the main benefit I got. This might be because the hyaluronic the brand uses in this product just works so well for me. It might be the other actives. I don’t know. It did its job.

Should you try it?

I mean, yeah. Always see how it works for you. The brand recommends this for sensitive skin in particular, and I have dry skin. I believe this would be great for both skin types. I can’t say for sure how this will be for you if you have oilier skin.

I especially recommend this if you are already looking at Barbara Sturm products and were interested in trying the hyaluronic serum, which retails at the same price for $110. This product will get you those moisturizing effects plus the additional ingredients for almost half the price. You’re welcome.
