On my recent trip to Nigeria, I flew into Lagos using Delta Airlines. As I was booking the trip, I made the decision to try to make the best of it and be as comfortable as possible on the 10 hour and 46 minute flight. Well not as comfortable as possible, I booked the ticket in the Comfort Plus cabin. (Fingers crossed someone will fund my international trip sitting in Delta One.)

The first thing I noticed was that the plane boarded in order of row numbers, instead of boarding classes. Loved it, I appreciate the efficiency of that strategy. Although, that has more to do with the particular flight crew than anything else.
Once on the plan, pillows and blankets were waiting at each seat. As I sat down, I noticed I had quite a bit of leg room. And my overstuffed backpack fit nicely in the space under seat in front of me. Prior to take off we received our travel amenity kits. Everyone had a different photo on the front, profiling a different social media post that had been tagged #SkyMilesLife.

The kit included ear plugs. And if your seat neighbor snores as loudly as guy on my flight, you’ll be happy to have them as well. We also received a plastic toothbrush, tiny toothpaste, and an eye mask.
There were two meal services on the flight. At dinner time, we received a starter, entrée, and desert. I got a cold grain salad, my chosen meal of shrimp with rice and spinach, and a small packaged lemon blondie. The blondie was very good, everything else was okay. The flight attendants walked around with a tray of pre-poured water and juice to choose from.
Breakfast was a fruit salad and an English muffin sandwich with egg white and cheese. I definitely could have used some hot sauce, chutney, or, something for flavor.
Right before landing, the flight attendants walked up and down the aisle with a basket of mini Tony’s chocolate bars that were 70% dark chocolate. There was no Biscoff. At no point was my favorite part of flying Delta offered. I’m not sure if this was an oversight or was because of the meal service, but I missed having the cookies. (Update, I just found out there were snacks in the back of the plane. Apparently that is where they keep the anytime snacks. I am disappointed right now.)
Quick summary, this are the things that I noticed that were different from the standard fare- More legroom and an amenity kit. But at the end of the day you are still on a plane. The things that annoy you in regular class will still annoy you in all of the other classes, because you are still traveling with humans.
I had an aisle seat and got hip checked in the shoulder by one of the flight attendants every time she came by. Everyone else who walked by bumped me about 50% of the time.
So temper your expectations. The food was not amazing. You get the extra of an amenity kit, which is helpful if you are someone who chooses to busy your teeth on the plan. I am not. But I would definitely book this fare class again.
I can do main cabin all day stateside to save some money. However, the extra legroom is worth the extra couple hundred dollars on flight that long. I will say that, while I appreciated the ability to stretch out my legs and get to walk about without having to ask permission, I might think twice about the aisle seat. But I would definitely book Comfort Plus again.
