Creed Aventus for Her: First impressions

I have been wearing Aventus for Her for a few days. After seeing all the love the original masculine version got in the fragrance communities, I was excited to try for myself.

Creed Aventus for Her

$445.00 for 75 mL

Notes:

Top- green apple, bergamot, pink pepper, lemon

Middle -rose, lilac, ylang ylang, blackcurrant, pineapple, peach

Base -sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, musk, ambergris

This version “for her” differs from the original with a moral floral and fruitier direction. These are the notes from the original:

  • Top- lemon, pink pepper, apple, bergamot, blackcurrant
  • Middle- pineapple, jasmine, patchouli
  • Base -birch, ambergris, cedarwood, oakmoss, musk

In Aventus for Her, black currant moved to a mid note, but otherwise the top notes are the same. There is the addition of rose, lilac, peach, and ylang ylang in the mid notes. Patchouli moved to base. Missing is the birch, oakmoss.

Admittedly, I started trying this when I couldn’t smell very well through my peak allergy season. I didn’t “get” the scent. It was unpleasantly citrus for me. I could tell it was citrusy, but it didn’t really smell bubbly and fresh, as I’m used to with citrus forward fragrances.

Trying it again today, I sprayed this on my wrist at 7:40. Twenty minutes later we were still at the top notes, still very much the citrus coming through. A few hours later when I resmelled my arm and the blotter sheet, I was able to get the florals and the fruit. On skin, all I got was faint fruit. I much preferred the way the scent smelled on the blotter than it did on me. The paper smelled sophisticated; I smelled blah. At this point I have lost the paper and can’t tell what it smells like now, but the scent has pretty much faded from my skin now at 9:30 PM, 14 hours later.

I am on the fence about this one. I think I would need to wear it over a longer period of time to really get to know it. There are a lot people who are in love with this, but I didn’t really like it on me. But I will say, I can kinda see what they like about it based on how it performs on paper. I would say you should definitely try it out for yourself if you have been meaning to test out a fragrance that was at the same time both fruity and floral. Or to be honest, if you are like me and have just been curious about getting to know more about the House of Creed.
