Nobu Hotel Atlanta Review: The room

When I finally made it to the Nobu Atlanta Hotel, the experience inside was serene. I was greeted at the front desk with an oshiburi towel, a hot towel that smelled of lemongrass and calmed my stress trying to find the place. Check-in went very smoothly, the women working the desk were friendly and ready to answer my questions. I then proceeded to my room.

Elevator buttons at Nobu Hotel Atlanta

A note, it is clear they take security very seriously. Or they are just trying to make the guests’ lives easier. I say that because the elevator is simplified. In order to called the elevator, you scan your key card and then it only illuminates for the floor that you are allowed to go to. My room was on the third floor. I only had the option to go to that floor or the common areas. (I imagine if you trying to meet up with someone who stays on a different floor, you would have to arrange to meet downstairs and then go to one of your rooms together. If are you a traveling with a large party and have booked multiple rooms, I suggest asking for all of them to be on the same floor, if possible.)

The hallway was beautiful, and there was definitely a scent in the air. I liked it. The staff would later tell it was a signature scent created specifically for the hotel. It smelled of lemongrass. As a side note, I appreciated the styling of the hallway. I wish some of those elements were incorporated into the room.

The room I booked was a deluxe with two queen beds. It was calming and with a lot of wooden features. Specially there were wood floors. I don’t think I can recall staying a hotel with wood floors any other time in my life. And I think you could easily take for granted the design of what I believe is the covering for the air conditioning unit. I, however, appreciated that attention to detail.

In the room, I found a welcome note with a matcha chocolate bar, a branded water bottle, and the Nespresso and tea set. Like, don’t even tell me you have a luxury hotel if you don’t provide an in-room Nespresso maker. Seriously.

The bathroom had the modern, minimalist, Japanese inspired design continued. The bath products were provided by Natura Bisse (which is a skincare brand I have been meaning to try at some point). They also provided a dental kit! I didn’t have to worry about forgetting my toothbrush they had me. Another thing I don’t think I have seen provided in hotels is a flat iron. That was also a nice touch. I don’t think I saw it on the amenities list on the site, but that would be one less thing to worry about packing.

In the closet were the robes and slippers, and the minibar snacks. I really wish they clearly marked these things. Just curious, can I eat this without being charged? Is it complimentary? I can’t tell.

Once I was settled in, I noticed how quiet it was. I honestly thought we were the only ones in that place, until I saw three other people walking around. It was that quiet. The only issue I had was with the noise of someone racing by himself along the street of the hotel. And that was really a street, so maybe it was just a short track training exercise in his mind.

Here is a con. This is nitpicky, but the door took 32.96 seconds to close. Yes, I timed it, because I kept thinking, “Wow this door takes forever to close.” Again, the place was not busy while I was there, but I personally don’t like the idea of my door still working its way closed and I have already made it onto the elevator. Personally, I did my best to manually close it before walking away. I suppose the alternative could be those extremely heavy fire doors that slam shut fast and almost take your finger with it.

With all of that said, would I stay there again? Yes, but I’m interested in trying the more premium rooms. I want to know how the suite experience compares. If the opportunity presents itself, I will certainly be back. If you happen to be in the area yourself and are interested in seeing it for yourself, don’t hesitate. Go ahead and book yourself a room.
