Dior is making a big push for Gris Dior lately. The brand will be hosting their Enter the Grey Zone experience in LA April 13-16. I will not be in LA, so I have just been wearing the fragrance over the last few days, instead. (It is not the same thing at all. I want to go to LA.)
Gris Dior is meant to be the fragrance interpretation of the “Dior Gray.” It is elegant and. Classy. Personally, I have no idea what it really smells like. This might just be my persistent nasal allergies, but all I can say is it smells good. The fragrance is subtle, not at all in your face. The key notes are jasmine and bergamot, but it doesn’t feel citrusy.

I have the dabber bottle and a deluxe sample of the body cream. When applying the parfum, I pretty much poured it on myself, but it didn’t seem like a bad thing. There are some fragrances where if you do that, you need to immediately go and bathe so you don’t suffocate people with your scent. I on the other hand felt fine going into the office. No one commented on my scent. No compliments, but also no complaints either.
The body cream is luxurious and moisturizing, and lightly scented. Again, it has no intention of choking anyone out. My skin had a bit of a sheen to it and was subtly fragranced.
The fragrance is so subtle from the start, that I don’t really know what to say in terms of longevity. It’s faintly there hours later, but it was faintly there in the previous hours as well.
I can see why people really like it. This seems great for people who want to smell good, but not in way where their fragrance shines more than their personality. I can also see the appeal of getting everything in the line (spray, hair mist, body cream, body wash/hand soap, bar soap, lotion) to build on the fragrance and have it incorporated in to more aspects of your life. Personally, I see the specific appeal of the body cream, and I may look into getting some in other scents.
Would I recommend? If you are looking for a subtle higher end fragrance, give this one a try. And if you happen to be in LA, April 13-16, I recommend you try it out during the Enter the Grey Zone experience.
