I went into Sephora in the mood to try new to me fragrances. On deck today? Ellis Brooklyn’s Vanilla Milk.
I started by spraying it on the tester strip. It seemed like spoiled milk. I can’t say exactly what it was, it just didn’t seem right. On skin wasn’t any better. I was still disappointed. And then I made the choice to continue on with that scent on my arm throughout the day, just to see how it developed. I sprayed it on at 3:30 PM, at 11:20 PM, it was faint but smelled much sweeter. Dare I say pleasant and milky?

Just putting my bias on the table, I did not go in with high hopes. I have tried Ellis Brooklyn fragrances before and was not impressed. There is just something about the ways they make fragrances over that just don’t suit me. Not simply as scents in the air or on my skin. I really want to be able to hold them up as a great brand to try, I want to honor the story behind the brand, but the product is just not something I want to buy. Maybe there is something out there, maybe a brand new fragrance they will create that will finally speak to me. Until then, I suppose you can try it if you really want. Just don’t tell anyone I suggested it as a good idea.
