Thoughts on Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine

Based on the marketing and the scent of Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, I can see the vision they were going for with this one. I think Gucci was intending to do something young and fresh. This is not an intimidating fragrance at all. I can see it fitting within a more youthful style. In the video they use on their site they use animation and bright colors. Going off of that, I can see the vision.

  • Top notes: Mandarin, bergamot, black pepper
  • Mid notes: Jasmine grandiflorum, magnolia accord, jasmine sambac, rose damascena
  • Base notes: Sandalwood, Benzoin, Patchouli

Now, this is not my particular cup of tea. I am just not a fan of how it smells on me, and it doesn’t fit within my personal style. To me, my personal opinion, this was reminiscent of fabric softener. And that is not necessarily a bad thing. No one commented on my scent, that potentially could be why. It just smelled like I freshly laundered my outfit. I guess you could say that it is fresh and clean, as florals go.

If you are in love with florals, give this a try. This might be something you’re into. As you can probably tell, I am not a fan of this really. I think the reason it didn’t work well for me is that it is heavy in white florals. But maybe that isn’t what I dislike. Based on the notes listed, there should be something that I liked. Something should have peaked through at some point during the day.

This is making me want to better understand fragrance compositions. I want to train my nose to be able to pick out different notes. That would make me better at reviews and just generally enjoy fragrances more. I am wondering if there is a good way to train my nose at home. If I find one, you best believe I will let you know here.
