Orangers en Fleurs by Houbigant smells like springtime

The concept behind Orangers en Fleurs by Houbigant was the use of orange blossoms for 18th century weddings. This central note was associated with fertility and innocence. The fragrance of this offering is very light. I would describe it as feminine and fresh. In the air, Orangers en Fleurs by Houbigant smelled like springtime; on me it was much more muted.

Orangers en Fleurs Eau de Parfum

$200 for 100mL

Top notes: Orange blossom, rose absolute, Egyptian jasmine absolute

Mid notes: Tuberose, eau de Brouts, ylang comores, nutmeg

Base notes: Cedarwood, musk

I was surprised to see the other notes listed on this fragrance. I didn’t get any thing but orange blossom. It is all I really smell on me. That might just be my body chemistry. There is a bit more nuance when sprayed on paper. I can see where they are coming from with the rose.

The other day I tried this, I put it on in the morning and couldn’t smell it on myself at 5 PM. I put it on again to help with writing this review. At about an hour later, it had already faded quite a bit. Two hours later even more so. The scent on the paper I sprayed is also quite faded, but much more present. While that could seem like a bad thing, I would say that this is light enough for you to enjoy and feel and smell fresh, without overpowering the room or making other people feel nauseated. That to me is a plus, because orange blossom on me can pull a little overpowering.

If you like orange blossom, this might be something for you try. I recommend, as always, that you try it out on your skin before you fully commit to a bottle. If however you know for a fact that you do not what orange blossom anywhere near you, this might be a pass for you. Personally, because of its performance on me, I won’t be looking to buy a bottle, but I ask you come to your own decision if this would be right for your collection.
