I get into my head every now and again that my time has passed. It is as if I am a wound soldier in this battlefield of life, telling my dreams to go on without me. “Save yourself! Leave me behind with my unfulfilled potential.” In truth, very rarely is it too late to start a new pursuit. Granted, there is a limit to when you can be named a child genius or a Forbes 30 under 30. But I question whether being young is really an achievement to strive for.
When we think about who is gets chosen as a model, the stories are often about teenagers scouted while out and about. But what about a 60-year-old woman?

As the story goes, Jacky O’Shaughnessy, had a chance encounter with the creative director of American Apparel. That single interaction blossomed into the offer to be the face of a campaign and a modeling career. Despite what many have come to believe about age, in the fashion industry in particular, she had a spark that resonated with American Apparel and consumers.
So what chances are you telling yourself you can’t take now? Maybe it’s time to reevaluate.
