YSL Pure Shots Night Reboot Resurfacing Serum- Review of this promising product

Today’s review: Pure Shots Night Reboot Resurfacing Serum by YSL. I tried this over a period of a few days. The very first day I tried it, I had some major acne on the bottom half of my face. After I had already committed to trying this product, I did think maybe it was not the best time to try a new product. Nevertheless, I persisted.

Pure Shots Night Reboot Resurfacing Serum

$88 for 30 mL

A biphase serum with glycolic acid to resurface the skin and lock in moisture for a healthier complexion

I only experienced a bit of irritation on a patch on my right cheek. That area tends to be a little sensitive generally.  (Probably made worse by an exfoliator I was trying, but more on that another time.) The Pure Shots didn’t feel remarkable when I put it on, but neither did it feel bad.  I had been expecting my face to feel dried out, but it didn’t feel at all dry. I let it absorb while I brushed my teeth, and my skin seemed fine. I then followed with the Tatcha dewy skin cream and went to sleep.

The next morning, I was too groggy to really check in the mirror, but I did notice my face was looking very hydrated midday, even though I didn’t do a morning moisturizer. The acne I was worrying about came to a head and decreased greatly in size. They were no longer sore to the touch. I continued to use the product for a few more days. I experienced no problems, but I definitely loved the way my skin looked in the morning.

I will say, however, I believe the real test would be to see how my skin faired after a day out and wearing a mask for 8 hours straight. That tends to dry my skin out. I would need to try this product out over a longer term too see what true results would be like for me.

Would I recommend you try it? Yes. If you are interested in a gentle exfoliating acid serum, give this one a try. Personally, I would be willing to try it out for a longer period. It did what the company claimed it would do (lock in moisture and resurface), and I didn’t have any serious adverse effects. If you do try it, remember to wear your sunscreen regular because acids, like the one in this product, can make your skin’s sensitivity to the sun.
