Let’s get to the point. I get really excited whenever there is a new Tom Ford fragrance release. I ran (drove) down to Sephora to try the newest releases, Electric Cherry and Cherry Smoke. Sigh, they didn’t have it, but more on that later. Nordstrom did have it, so I was able to smell both.

Electric Cherry, is much sweeter and fruitier. I would say it doesn’t have that sophisticated almond like Lost Cherry. This one is much more playful. May not be my personal go to, but it did smell good.

Cherry Smoke, with a name like that, didn’t feel like all that smoky to me. It was like maybe drinking cherry juice in a room where a candle had just been extinguished. The smoke was there, but it wasn’t the most striking thing about the fragrance. However, as the fragrance developed throughout the day, that note started become more apparent.
I sprayed both of them on card. Those cards still have scent now 6 days later, but the Cherry Smoke is much stronger. I also sprayed the Cherry Smoke on skin. It lasted all day on me. It projected out, I was told I smelled great, but I was also wearing another combination as well.
While Sephora didn’t have the new releases, the Beauty Advisor suggested I try a combination that might help me understand how Cherry Smoke might smell. She sprayed Lost Cherry and then spritzed Maison Margiela’s By the Fireplace on top. That right there, if you are looking for a smokey fruity combination, then that might be the way to go. If you have more of an interest in subtlety, then go for the Cherry Smoke.
The way I would characterize the fragrances is like this:
Electric Cherry- Seductively Sweet
Lost Cherry- Sophisticated Gourmand
Cherry Smoke- Delicious, but with a dark edge
As always, I suggest you try the fragrances before you buy it. It does seem like going in to a department store will be your best bet to see what their like. Having smelled them, I am interested in whether the brand will release a travel size trio, like they did with the roses collection. I would probably spring for that next, just to get to know the fragrances even more.
