The Eliza Jane is a hotel with character. It is straight up gorgeous. I walked in for my registration during December. I am undoubtedly getting to see it at its most beautiful, adorned with Christmas decorations throughout the first floor. It was so beautiful, I even spotted a local family taking their professional portraits there. The cozy sitting area made me think, maybe I want to paint my walls mauve. It added character to the space. As gorgeous as it was, I imagine you really care about the room. I mean that is what you are really paying for.

I took the elevator up to my floor. And then sat there confused, as I tried to figure out which direction to go. I turned to the left, walked past the precarious overlook to the ground floor, and eventually found my room after winding around. (I would later get turned around as I left it. Luckily, I discovered it was just one big loop and eventually got back to the elevator).
The room was dark. I then went to turn on the lights, only to realize all I had were lamps. Aside from the one over the coffee maker and in the bathroom, there was no overhead lighting. I also had no real window, just a fake one for my interior room. If I needed to get work done or cared more about my picture quality, this would have bothered me more.

I will say this con actually probably helped me get some amazing sleep. I will say that because it was so dark, I think I had the best sleep of my life. The bed was quite firm, the bed sheets were fine, but something about have zero light in a hotel room made it so cozy. I am glad I set my alarms to get to where I needed to on time.

The bathroom was a bathroom no complaints. It did take me a while to figure out the lights, since the switch was outside of it. The real star was the CO Bigelow products. The lime and coriander body wash. Chef’s kiss, perhaps literally. How could something that seems like it is just for food be something I enjoyed cleansing with. I would invest in a bottle, but we are not here to review that (yet).

Other highlights of the hotel
- A bar that opens up in the evenings
- Restaurant
- Gym
- Walking distance to many of the places you would like to go to in New Orleans.
Would I recommend you stay there? Absolutely. If you are looking for a place to stay that is close to it all but removed enough away to be relaxing, give this place a look.
