Skincare for men? Lab Series Max LS Cleanser

This was new cleanser for me to try, but I’m not sure I am the best person to test it out. It is the Lab Series Cleanser for men. I am not a man. But I have a face, so hopefully that will be enough for now. I have to say that I used this for about a week.

I didn’t think there was a difference between the skin of men’s and women’s faces, other than beards. But apparently, men tend to have thicker skin, larger pores, and more acne. And of course, because men often grow facial hair, and then cut that hair off, they can experience irritation. The more you know.

But in the branding of Lab Series, it is clear that they are thinking about men when it comes to the outside of their product as well. It is obviously stark, simple packaging, in muted neutral colors. It seems like an attempt to feel more traditionally masculine. This could be to feel more inviting than many of the women-forward marketing approaches even down to the design of the containers.

Using this product brought back old memories for me. The consistency, appearance, and scent all reminded me of the Neutrogena deep clean cream cleanser, so I used it the same way. I took a pea-sized amount and massaged it on to my wet face. The only thing that I noticed is that it is billed as a rich foaming cleanser, but I didn’t experience that. I couldn’t get it to bubble nicely. Maybe I was doing it wrong? But even after trying to get it to foam day after day, I got maybe mild bubbles.

A detoxifying anti-aging cleanser designed for men

How does it clean? I didn’t find it to be stripping at all. And given how it is marketed, I didn’t think it to be reasonable to test how well it removes makeup. It’s not designed with that in mind. This seems to be a gentle, take-the-day-off cleanser to set you up for the rest of your skincare routine. You can also use it as a mask. I will update this post if I try that.

There were two one star reviews on the site: 1 didn’t remove dirt, pores still enlarged, 2 didn’t control breakouts, oily skin. I would agree. If you are looking for a deep cleaning, scrub your skin type cleanser, this is not for you. Also, if you are looking for something to control breakouts, this is not for you. The actives in this were not put in there with those intentions. Now if you are looking for a gentle, non-stripping cleanser that affirms your manhood this one is for you.
