Finally trying the much hyped Delina by Parfums de Marly

This fragrance is so hyped, that I just had to know what it smelled like.

When I first sprayed it, I thought, “Oh no, another over hyped fragrance that I won’t like.” Then it settled, and I found myself enjoying it. I think I have only eaten rhubarb twice in my life, actively smelled it never. But I guess I like it, or at least when mingles with rose.

Delina by Parfums de Marly

$355 for 75 mL

Notes:

Top: Turkish rose, lily of the valley, peony

Mid: Lychee, rhubarb, bergamot, nutmeg

Base: Vanilla, white musk, cashmeran, cedarwood, incense

I feel it lasted well on my skin into the evening. And it projected too. I had a coworker turn and say, “Are you wearing fragrance? You smell really good. What is that?” I told him. He had never heard of it, but there we go.

I didn’t really know what to expect out of this one. I admit, given the influencers I saw speaking on it, and the bottle itself, I assumed it would be ultrafeminine, in a Barbie Dreamhouse kind of way. Instead, it’s more like the mansion of the woman Barbie’s creators had in mind: a self-assured woman, confident in her femininity, who others aspire to emulate.

Would I buy a full bottle? Ooh, I don’t know. Not because I don’t like the scent. It more has to do with how I want to experience it. For one, I feel like I would need to get my life and wardrobe in order first. Although, I smell very good in my sweatshirt at the moment. Given how steep the price is, I could see myself getting the body cream and shower gel first and playing with it that way. And then maybe springing for a full bottle.

But I’m curious about your thoughts. Have you tried this one? Are there other rhubarb fragrances you’d recommend?
