Just a quick review of the Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt cologne and candle

The first time I wore Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt, I instantly thought” I really want this in a candle.” So I bought the candle. Review on that to come.

The second time I wore it, I was still a fan. As I sniffed my skin it smelled woody with a sweet edge. I applied it close to 1 PM. I tried to go kind of heavy to smell strongly of it. It seemed like a scent that wouldn’t bother anyone, so I proceeded to overspray.

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne

$110 for 50mL

Notes: Animalic ambrette seeds, woodiness for sage, and sweet florals (I find it strange that Jo Malone refers to the notes as “tasting notes”)

I didn’t smell myself periodically throughout the day but the scent was pretty much gone by 10 PM. I had to basically inhale my skin into my nose to smell any of it. However, the paper I sprayed at the same time was just as fragrant the next morning. I didn’t notice a major change in the scent, just the top note fading away. But the scent was pretty much the same on paper as on skin.

Now on to the candle. I was surprised. I thought I would love it, but I found myself underwhelmed. I don’t find the sweet woodiness that I got from the spray. The room smells pleasant, the scent throw is great, but it isn’t giving me what I thought I was getting.

$75 for 200g

Would I repurchase? Somewhat. I personally believe I will best enjoy this scent on skin. I’m thinking the body cream will be my best bet to try next. Hopefully either on its own or layered with the spray it will last longer. While the candle is great and burns evenly, I think I need a different scent to create the vibe I’m looking for. But I trust the quality of the Jo Malone candles, based on my experience. It is all about choosing the right scent at this point.
