You know, I am trying to figure out if this is a great cleanser or just great technique. I tried the Eve Lom Cleanser out, testing its makeup removing properties.

My face was covered. A layer or two of foundation (1 layer of foundation that was way too light + another that was too dark) blush, highlighter, and multiple coats of mascara. I am bad at doing makeup. So, it was too much. I can assure you.
You apply the balm rubbing it onto your dry face. Then wet the included muslin cloth with hot water. Apply the cloth to your face and hold there for 5 seconds. During that time, try to relax and not panic because your face is covered and you will just inhale a piece of wet cloth. The third time you do this, you wipe your face and rinse the rag and repeat until all clean. So, is it a good cleansing product, or is the muslin cloth doing all the work?
Being the skeptic that I am, I tried this out using my Tata Harper Nourishing Oil cleanser. Possibly less overall foundation, but I still had blush, highlighter, eye shadow and so much mascara. I repeated all the steps. Rub the cleanser on my face. Wet cloth, wet cloth, wet cloth, remove. And then I notice the cleanser was gone, but not all of the makeup. And surprisingly, the cloth didn’t rinse as clean in between. I’m not sure what that means, but I noticed it. Then I repeated the steps with the Tatcha Rice Cleanser, and my face felt so dry. It was finally clean, but very dry. Note to self, it was not just the technique doing the job.
I guess the better review is how my skin felt. And it was not bad. It felt soft, not dried out, not stripped. This is the first time I have noticed a cleanser described as non-stripping and I didn’t have to call it out as a liar. After I completed cleansing, I just topped my face with some oil. That was it. I did that at like 5 PM and didn’t need any more moisturizer. (I used the Augustinus Bader oil. I may need to review that one, too).
Would I recommend this product? Yes! The only pause would be if you are sensitive to scents. It has a slight herbal smell which I didn’t personally mind. But it is something for you to consider. If you are looking for a gentle cleanser that is up to the task of removing all of your makeup, give this one a try.
(Also, I noticed that pretty much all the Eve Lom products are on sale at Nordstrom right now.)
