It’s officially fall, so here is my review of Autumn Vibes

I have been waiting for this moment. Where I live it is still unseasonably warm, but I am still trying to beckon the crisp fall air. I eagerly put on Autumn Vibes by Maison Margiela. In preparation for this post I wore the fragrance earlier in the week as well. Here are my thoughts from the day:

September 20, 2022 Sprayed on at 8 AM. Smells like outside and smoke. Like if you were standing in the woods. I admit my nose is fairly congested right now. No like standing outside in the middle of fall. Like the grass is dry, and you are standing in the middle of a field.. No, there is not really any smoke. Just the dry wood. Thre is something underneath there though that is fresher. Like clean and crisp, now that it is settling down.

10:21 AM. It’s still there but fainter. I won’t wear this to work.  But I will wear it again on the 22.

Top notes: Pink Peppercorns essence, Cardamom essence, Coriander essence
Middle notes: Carrot Seeds essence, Nutmeg essence, Olibanum essence
Base notes: Cedarwood essence, Moss accord, Fir Balsam absolute, Labdanum resinoïd

Why did I say I wouldn’t wear it to work? What was I feeling that day? Now, cocooning my head in my sweatshirt to smell the fragrance, it doesn’t seem inappropriate for work. Maybe because it doesn’t seem like a happy go lucky fragrance. It’s more mature, not like an old person, but like someone who is comfortable in their skin. I don’t believe this is a fragrance that everyone will come up to you, telling you, “You smell great.” But it’s comforting.

Interesting enough, I had a chance to smell Parfums de Marly Kalan. I did not like it when it was sprayed that day. But now I would like to try it again. I can’t say they smell similar, but both are based in peppercorns. Wearing Autumn Vibes now is making me want to explore pepper in fragrances more.
