I feel like my lips are always dry. It’s embarrassing and frustrating. Should I just drink more water? Probably. Will I? Maybe (she says doubting even that lack of commitment). Will I just buy a new lip balm in hopes of it solving all of my problems? You bet I will.
That is why I decided to try the Augustinus Bader lip balm. Yes, it is $40, but every dollar is more support that I should be placing my trust in them. And I got desperate so I didn’t care, so long as it worked.

The Lip Balm
$40.00
Claims: Hydrate, nourish, and plump chapped, dry lips
I admit, I was disappointed. Here is the thing. It is a good lip balm. It just isn’t a miracle worker. I found that if I put in effort to use a lip mask overnight and my lips were super hydrated, then it provided the support throughout the day to keep them going strong. But, if I tried to use it for overnight wear or to try and recover already chapped lips, it was not up to the task.
When I left the house for the day where I had to wear a face covering the entire time, I left the balm at home. There was no chance to reapply. Throughout the day, my lips grew drier and drier.
But then I had another day, when I exfoliated my lips before bed. So, I exfoliated, put it on my lips before bed. My lips were decent when I woke up, but I chose to apply more before heading out for my walk. It was chilly and windy and my lips fare well.
I had the best experience with it when I exfoliated my lips before applying. Applying it on top of lips that are already dry and flaky did not work. Yes, this thing is $40, but it is still not a miracle in a tube.
If I am going to spend so much for a lip balm, I expect more. I expect to rehabilitate my chapped lips, and this thing did not. Whether or not I recommend this to you would depend on what you are looking for. If you want a luxury experience and premium packaging, buy this. If you have normal hydration lips and just need a boost, go for it. If you are willing to apply multiple times a day, try this product. However, if you are dealing with severely dehydrated lips, I suggest you try a more hydrating product instead. (For example, check out my review of the Patchology Lip gels. Those might work better for you.)
