The last skincare review I posted about was the Sunday Riley Good Genes. Well, that was mess. After likely over-exfoliating my face, I was left with skin in worse condition than when I started. And that was on top of the issues I had from the Barbara Sturm products for Darker Skin, which were certainly not suited for my dry skin. I needed a break. I needed recovery. So, I reached for Augustinus Bader next.
If you are not familiar with the brand, then you probably use your time well and avoid getting stuck in the blackhole that is YouTube skincare reviews or celebrity beauty routines. If you are familiar with the brand, you might have read that I tried the brand and thought, “You could just say that you’re independently wealthy in fewer words.” (Spoiler: I am not.)

Augustinus Bader is the eponymous brand developed by a German doctor, based on developments for wound healing. Because the level of science and quality packed into the brand, they come at a steep price point. And anytime, I see expensive skincare, I just get suckered into figuring out if they work. Lluckily I was able to procure a deluxe sample of the rich cream and use the product myself for two weeks.
On day 1, I had some redness of my face after I applied the rich cream. My nose stung when I applied it. I had been wearing a rough cotton face mask that day, so I chalked up the irritation to that. I will say, though, that my skin looked moisturized in the morning. And that pattern continued for just maybe one more day: slight irritation, but great skin in the morning.
What did I notice throughout the two weeks? Well, I can’t say that I experienced a reduction in pore size, but my skin finally started to calm back down. I had been experiencing a lot of acne, and that started to go away. It also seemed like my dark marks started to fade. (Alas, I did not take any before and after pictures. That would have been a good idea.)
Because I had a relatively good experience, I would be interested in trying the brand for a longer term. I was under the 27 days they suggest are necessary to see a difference. So, I wonder what results I would see if I were to invest in a discovery set and be able to use the product over longer period.
I recommend you try the brand for yourself if it is feasible to do so. It is not a magic spell, but you may see skin improvements over time. If you do try it, please let me know how it worked for you.
