Rue St Honoré, hello. I had kinda known that Ouai made scents, but I never smelled any. When I saw this as a sample offered for my Sephora, I snapped it up. My new things is to try and not read any information about a fragrance and to just go ahead and try it. So, I just went ahead and sprayed it on my wrist. I thought, “I think I like this, but I don’t know why.” I also had a feeling that it could a scent that would irritate other people, but I left the house wearing it anyway.
I sprayed it on myself at 7:30 AM, and then again around noon. It hadn’t faded much, I just wanted to make sure it projected out since I was doing an outfit change. By the end of the day, just the musk remained on my skin, but I could definitely still smell it on my clothes. As I went out and about, no one remarked about the scent, so I have no idea if they could smell it or whether or not they liked the way it smelled.
As I write this, I am doing a retest on skin and on paper side by side, and it’s not helpful. I am only getting one note from the paper and I have no idea which one it is. It is just a nice smelling flower. When I smell it on my skin though, I feel like a grownup who has my life together. It transports me to a fictional better version of myself, one where I take pride in my appearance and go to lunches at cafes. It smells like a Sunday fragrance. Maybe that only makes sense in my head, but I guess it smells to me like being carefree but putting in the effort.
That is enough of my thoughts, here is how Ouai describes it on their product page: Sophisticated and floral. (So I was on to something.)

Ouai Rue St Honoré Eau de Parfum
$60
Top notes: Violet
Middle: Gardenia, ylang ylang
Base: White musk
The first day I wore it, I kept feeling like I had smelled something similar and couldn’t figure it out. Now I am convinced that it is J’Adore, but I no longer have sample on hand to do a comparison. It has a top note of ylang-ylang but also rose and jasmine. I am very likely wrong.
If you are fan of floral fragrances, I would say give it a try. Even if you can’t get a sample or in store to try it, it is fairly inexpensive for a fragrance. If you have already tried it, let me know your thoughts.
