Ruby Orchid vs Flowerbomb Nectar: My humble comparison of the two Flowerbomb flankers

I was able to get a sample of Ruby Orchid. Being that it is the newest flanker to the Flowerbomb, I decided to test it out compared to my favorite, Flowerbomb Nectar.

Here is what Viktor & Rolf had to say about the two.

Ruby Orchid: Key Notes: Vine Peach, Ruby Orchid, Bourbon Vanilla

“ a sensual floral perfume that’s inspired by the glamour of burlesque”

“a magnetic fragrance perfect for any confident woman”

Flowerbomb Nectar: Key Notes: Osmanthus, Orange Blossom, Gun Powder Accord

“a deep variation of the original Flowerbomb juice with explosive notes of orange flower and tonka bean”

My thoughts:

I sprayed them both on my skin and realized, “They pretty much smell the same”. Then I realized how bad my sense of smell is. I did some nasal sprays to clear my sinuses and re-spritzed my arms.

Flowerbomb nectar had a smokiness but a sweet edge, like a fruit of some sort. So not overly sweet. Ruby Orchid was just fruity, wanna bite into it sweetness. It stayed fruitier and sweeter throughout my wear test. Nectar projected. It greeted you at the door. Ruby Orchid sat much closer to my skin.

I found that between the two, Ruby Orchid faded down a lot faster. When I couldn’t detect any traces of it, Nectar was still there going strong. I also feel like Nectar is a lot closer to the core of the Flowerbomb DNA. Ruby Orchid feels like something completely different. It’s like they are just using the name to drive sales, but it is a different scent altogether.

What do I have to say in conclusion? These are two completely different fragrances, that can be good for two different reasons. If you want to smell sweet and not really worry about your scent being obnoxious, go with Ruby Orchid. If you want to be noticed on an evening out, go with Nectar. If you were to buy both, you can be confident they are different enough to justify the purchase. Personally with my personality and preferences, I will stick with Nectar, but will happily continue to try the other flankers.

But what do you think?
