The Frankie Shop Eva Tank is finally mine. Here’s how I style it

The Frankie Shop Eva shirt. Maybe you’ve already seen it, bought it, styled it. Well, I guess I’m late to the party. I first saw the style on a Net-A-Porter style challenge video . And I thought, “That’s cool, I want it.” Then later I saw KarenBritChick style it in dress form multiple times on YouTube. Still for some reason, I waited what two years to finally add it to my wardrobe.

I’ve styled it with black joggers from Athleta for a very casual vibe. It’s basically sweatpants and a t-shirt, but elevated.

It’s 100% cotton, soft, and comfortable. The shoulders are padded to provide the strong detailing to mimic old school muscle tees. I think about the image the 80s lady power suit, with its stiff shoulder pads giving women more confidence to take charge in the historically very male boardroom. That’s what we’re going for, power but casual and modern.

The shirt was designed to be an oversized fit. Personally, I would say that gives you a bit of flexibility in choosing sizes. I’m true to size, a medium, through and through. The shoulder lines hit me where they should. The only thing I would say is that it is hard to style untucked based solely based on how it hits my hips. We’ll see. I’ll keep trying.

In many of the style inspirations you’ll see out there, this top is paired with structured wide leg trousers. That I believe is a great idea, because this shirt seems to look best tucked in. I also believe that the width of the shoulder can help create the illusion of the hourglass figure which can be further enhanced by adding some width with the bottom. Knowing you can find that way of styling elsewhere, I will just show you some other ways that I would like to wear the look.

I have started casual and then followed it up with some more dressed up looks.

Just Casual

This is effortlessly casual. It’s still the old t-shirt and jeans but elevated with the structured shoulder of the Eva tank. I’ve paired it here with a pair of straight leg ankle jeans and my staple of casual wear, boat shoes.

Taking Care of Business

Yes, it is technically a t-shirt, but you can definitely dress it up. Here I have pared it with a patterned pencil skirt and embellished flats.

Just a Little Edge

Nothing is more badass than a muscle tee and leather. But let us be honest, that word has never been used to describe me as a person. So, I have reimagined that edge into a more “feminine” look.  I think taking a muscle tee, leather in the form of a wrap skirt, and adding pink heels is a way to bring edge in a way that would make Elle Woods proud.

I’ll be playing around with the styling more. I’m interested in getting this top in black and potentially trying on the size small to see how that changes the lines of the garment on my body. I do wonder how it will fare in the wash. (j/k it’s a hand wash garment. Let’s see how I fare with the wash, then.) I will probably have to provide an update.

You can get this style in multiple colors directly from the Frankie Shop site and other fine retailers.
