A little while ago, I got into fragrances. It has been a way for me to a) train my inferior scent of smell and b) envelop myself a bit of beauty that can’t be seen only felt. (Well it can be smelled, but again, inferior sense of smell.) If you dive into what is called the fragrance community, you start to learn about selections you would never see on the counter of your department store. This community of youtubers, bloggers, and redditors are the reason why I decided that I needed to smell the line from Dior called La Collection Privée.
This private collection is a touch above the standard favorites of the brand. Think Poison, Sauvage, Miss Dior. These more luxury fragrances are developed with higher class ingredients, sold at a higher price point, and are likely to make you feel and smell luxurious. Rather than buy a full bottle without first smelling it, I decided to try as many as I could by purchasing a discovery set.

The set I purchased had eight fragrances from La Collection Privée in deluxe sample size bottles with a quarter ounce of perfume each. Since my purchase, the website has updated and now features a discovery set with 10 bottles and another set called the Art of Living with 7 fragrance miniatures, a body cream, and candle. Do I wish I would have waited for these sets? Yes, but I smell so good right now. Therefore, I will allow it. I can always get a replacement in the future.
Because the fragrances I have are included in the new sets, I would love to give you a review. However, I have an inferior sense of smell, and fragrance is a very personal choice anyway. While I will give you my top 3 of a collection of you-can’t-go-wrong scents, I invite you to try them yourself.
My top 3

Rouge Trafalgar: I smell like sweet berries, with a dash of generational wealth.
Actual notes: A fruity floral with accords of red berries, mandarin, and black currant.

Jasmin des Anges: I do in fact smell like an angel. Treat me accordingly.
Actual notes: A fruity floral take on a sweet jasmine rounded by honeyed apricot.

Oud Ispahan: Who is she? I don’t know, but she smells mysterious and alluring. I must learn more.
Actual notes: An oud-floral, characterized by notes of oud, rose, and patchouli.
You can get the new discovery sets and the entire selection of La Collection Privée products from Dior.com and from select boutiques.
If you have tried this set or any of the privée scents, let me know what you thought.
